Chess Master monthly tournament

Once a month the members of the Chess Master Club play a tournament. Everything runs automatically: register in the game (menu → Tournament), your games start by themselves, and the winner gets 6 months of membership for free.

How it works

Who can play

Members with a valid membership only. You can register and unregister until 10 minutes before the start.

When

Every first Saturday of the month at 19:00 Vienna time.

Minimum

With fewer than 12 players the tournament is cancelled; everyone gets an email.

Format

Swiss system with 3 to 7 rounds, depending on the number of players. Players with equal points meet, nobody plays the same opponent twice, colours are balanced.

Time control

10 minutes per player per game (10+0).

Games

Your game starts automatically and the game takes you straight there. Anyone not in their game after 3 minutes loses by forfeit; missing twice means elimination. With an odd number one player gets a bye (1 point).

Scoring

Win 1 point, draw ½. Ties are broken by Buchholz (sum of the opponents’ points), Sonneborn-Berger and number of wins.

Prize

The winner automatically gets 6 extra months of membership. With a running subscription the next payment moves back by the same time.

Fair play

Help from chess engines, bots, AI agents or MCP tools is forbidden. Every game is checked automatically; if the winner looks suspicious, we review by hand before the prize is given.
